Officially called 'Inclement Weather Combat Shirt' on the label, these are part of the flame resistant FROG (Flame Resistant Organizational Gear) for US Marines. Normally Marines have a Summer equivalent of the British UBACS but this version is intended for cold weather. Don't let that fool you however, although a bit thicker in the body than the normal summer version, these are intended as a under layer to protect from flames (particularly vehicle use).

Compared to traditional 'UBAC' style shirts, the main torso area has a minimal amount of stretch - however it is much more durable because of this. The arms and shoulders are made from a much more thicker material and further more have added large reinforcement areas. The cuffs are made from a warm stretchy fabric and have thumbholes to utilize. A one quarter zip allows for easy donning as well as an ability to cool off if its getting too hot.

An interesting shirt from the US Marine Corps - whether you are negotiating desert nights or the snows of Norway, don't become a tinder box with one of these shirts!
