Doubtless Bay is one of the oldest parts in New Zealand, dating from the early 1800s when it was a whaling base.

It includes the settlements of Hihi, Coopers Beach, Cable Bay, Taipa and Whatuwhiwhi, with its centre in busy Mangonui.

This one is all original, untouched since the 1950's.

For much of his life Leo White successfully combined two of his passions, aviation and photography, starting Whites Aviation and finding his photographs decorating hundreds of New Zealand homes.

Before Google maps on your phone, computers and tablets, Mr Leo White was up in an aeroplane shooting some of the most epic aerial photographs of our beautiful country, long before most places were developed or interfered with by our now futuristic communities.

In the 1950s, Leo White began taking photos for a book he published in 1952, called 'Whites Pictorial Reference of New Zealand'. This book became a bestseller and encouraged Leo to take more photographs in different sizes as feature art pieces for New Zealand homes and work environments.
