Description
An absolutely gorgeous Victorian jug. This measures 17 cm. in height. It features a fox belown a grape vine The Fox and the Grapes is one of the Aesop's fables,The narration is concise and subsequent retellings have often been equally succinct. The story concerns a fox that tries to eat grapes from a vine but cannot reach them. Rather than admit defeat, he states they are undesirable. The expression "sour grapes" originated from this fable. This jug is not perfect – it has a shallow chip on the base which you should be able to see in the base photograph and a tiny hair line crack on the lip which I have also photographed. I tried to Google the registration number on the base but couldn’t find any additional information. Even with its faults this is still a very desirable piece and would look superb in a country kitchen. I send all my parcels with Fastway couriers so please no P.O. boxes or Private Bags. If you have a rural delivery address please add $4.50 to the courier fee. Sorry - different fees for Waiheke Island & Chathams. I combine postage with other books or articles if possible.
