Description
An old 1937 sterling silver medal or medalion with HMS Bridgewater 1937 engraved on it. This Warship was involved in action and convoy work around the Atlantic & Meditereanian during the war. This has a wreath on one side with the enscription H.M.S. Bridgewater 1937, and on the other side, what looks to be two soccer players. So perhaps was a special sporting fixture. It is sterling silver and is hall marked on the side, anchor lion M, which I think is Birmingham 1936, which ties in with the inscription date of course. Looks like it may have had a mounting on the top, but that is now gone. Measures approx 26mm across, so is just a smidge bigger than our new 50cent piece. Great if you served on the ship, or your Dad or Grandfather etc. Thanks. refN19533415
