Up for auction are these fabulous and highly collectible vintage clip earrings by SARAH COVENTRY. The large silver tone earrings are beautifully made and feature iridescent blue confetti glass inlays.

This design was called CLEOPATRA and was launched by Sarah Coventry in 1972. In the book "Jewelry from Sarah Coventry" the author states this is one of her very favourites as the stones are chipped stones inside an oval glass casing. The bright beautiful colour ranges from purple to bright blue.

Stamped/Marked: SARAH COV and the copyright symbol Sarah Coventry jewellery received its name from Charles H. Stuart, the founder of Emmons Home Fashion. Sarah was named after his grand daughter where as Emmons was named after his wife, Caroline Emmons. The mark for "Emmons" was first used in 1948 and Emmons was incorporated in February of 1949, with Sarah Coventry coming into being, November of the same year. They started their business under home fashion shows and maintained the way they did business until 1984.

The jewellery I am offering comes from my own collection (most of it is from my numerous trips to New York in the 1980s and 1990s - still remember them fondly! :-), my mother's second-hand shop (which was located in Zurich and she ran it for about 20 years) and several Gisborne women who used to travel the world between the 1940s to 1980s.
