A Victorian locket that is extra large in size, well weighted and looks superb on a long chain. Smooth and lovely to handle, this is a lovely old locket deserving of new life.

Beautifully hand chased on both sides and completely reversible, the locket has an ornate scalloped border and a classic Victorian all-over pattern of Ivy leaves.

The Details Sterling silver front and back covers (unmarked, touchstone tested and guaranteed to be sterling) over a silver plated brass frame.

There is a single photo rim to the inside.

Locket Size: 4 x 4.8cm and gently rounds out to approximately 12mm in thickness.

The sterling silver suspension ring is new, as is the long stainless steel chain - an excellent colour match for old silver and hypoallergenic. (Locket and chain are shown on a life size torso in image 3)

Weight: a very decent 23.8 grams (without the chain)

Age: c.1870

Condition: Closes well and stays closed, hinge good. One small ding to the bottom of the reverse side and a soldered repair to the front bottom edge that is well done. No large dings.

***Please Note: The inside is messy. It has had several strengthening repairs over a very long life. Please see image 5 with liners removed. Uneven solder, plates of silver added, roughly done but all made very presentable with black liners.

Despite this - in fact, likely because of the extra metal on the inside - the locket is strong and there is plenty of life in the old girl yet!
