Description
A fine example of a Victorian shell cameo, in a 9-carat gold surround.
Exquisitely carved, the cameo measures approx 45 mm by 40 mm. The gold surround is unmarked but has tested as 9-carat gold.
The cameo is in very good condition. Faint stress lines are visible to either side of the profile when a strong light is put behind it, but these are not seen in normal use.
A lovely old piece.
