US Forces Gold Star Mothers Pin For KIA - WWII Era
This auction is for one original WWII era U.S. Forces Gold Star mothers lapel pin. The pin is in unissued and unused condition in the original box.
The gold star lapel pin was established on August the 1st 1947 to provide an appropriate identification for widows, parents and next of kin of members of the U.S. armed forces who lost their lives while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States.
This pin is the early pinback type.
Made by Brooks & Co. New York, New York.
The pin consists of a gold star on a purple circular background, bordered in gold and surrounded by gold laurel leaves.
On the back of the pin is the inscription:
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 1 AUGUST 1947 ACT OF CONGRESS
