8 cm long x 6 cm wide x 4.5 cm high The colour of the stone is slightly more greyish than shown.

The stone is from Taranaki and collected many years ago, but not by me. I got it from someone else.

Ventifacts are rocks that have been abraded, pitted, etched, grooved, or polished by wind-driven sand. The features are most typically found on rocks in arid environments where there is little vegetation to interfere with airborne particle transport, where there are frequently strong winds, and where there is a steady but not overwhelming supply of sand.
