19th century cdv photo of the Bishop of New Zealand George Selwyn and later he was also the Bishop of Lichfield in England. Identified to the back this CDV photograph by S.A.Walker late W. Walker and sons ,Cavendish square. He was the Bishop of New Zealand from 1841 to 1858,this included as well as Bishop of Melanesia .His diocese was divided in 1858 and he became primate of New Zealand from 1858 to 1868 when he returned to England and became the Bishop of Lichfield in 1868 to 1878. Several educational institutions in NZ bear his name ,Selwyn college in Cambridge ,Auckland ,Otago and Selwyn houses at kings school Auckland, Wellesley college Wellington and Wanganui Collegiate school ,Wanganui. This carte de Vista measures on card 6.4 cm x 10.3 cm. Some age and wear/some fade.
