This matau has been carved from the Raukaraka variety of our stone. With a large toggle of the KawaKawa variety. It is 10cm across x 12cm x 9mm thick overal tapering to an edge,and is skin smooth all over. The toggle is 6cm x 2.6 cmm x 12mm thick,flat on one side oval on the other,more likely to have been a river worn pebble. The stone shows two prominent bands of the orange color, with other markings,an interesting piece. from the Alf Moreton collection
