this is a rock of obsidian..the sacred stone of the cherokee indians as it was flint knapped into arrow points and preferred for its cutting action going in and coming out. called mata by early maori and was a main trade item used for skinning and cutting when split..legend has it that it was the firestone of poutini as he made fires on his way south with his captive waitaiki, seen in museums throughout n/z, I have several pieces so if this dosent suit please ask. I have wetted it with water prior to pic,this piece is .8kgs, 130mm long and 95mm high by 75mm wide this is the jet black variety from taupo it is showing beautiful black quite a stunner, am getting low on these pieces so dont miss out, happy bidding.
