Water Colour Painting of Red Cross Society Building Wellington 370 mm w x 320 mm h overall frame size and 220mm w x 165mm h visible painting within border, Signed & dated 79. Framed behind glass ready to hang. Entitled verso. Peter G. Leitch was born and educated in Wellington and now works from his studio in Christchurch, New Zealand. Peter was working in the advertising industry when in the 1970s he started to paint as a hobby. He had no formal training but soon became a major prize winner in the then prestigious National Bank Watercolour Awards. In 1972 he started to paint full-time and had paintings exhibited in the New Zealand Academy and several one-man shows. A series of stamps designed for New Zeaiand Post featured early New Zealand architecture and the Air Force. Peter's paintings have also been reproduced on table mats, calendars and as prints.
