IT HAPPENED IN - EKETAHUNA : FOUR YEARS IN THE LIFE OF A BOY
by Wesley Parker
Printed in a limited edition of 500 copies
From the foreword by Dame Dorothy Winstone -
This is Wesley Parker's "reminiscences of life as a young lad in a Methodist parsonage in Eketahuna just after the end of World War I.
It's a fascinating chronicle, told with sensitivity and gentle appreciation of disown family life. My great regist is, that having written his story 10 or more years ago, but for his own reasons not published it, many of his contemporaries and colleagues are unable to enjoy his recollections.
... His acute assessment of individuals (and a very accurate one as I am personally aware in a particular instance) is remarkable.
Wesley Parker's is an important story which surely merits a place in our national archives, and I hope future researchers and historians will find it in its rightful place - the Turnbull Library."
