James and Susannah Tarling arrived at Lyttleton in 1880 with 2 of their children, the other two having died on the voyage
These were Mona Anderson's grandparents and here she tells the story of their life in Wales, where James was a miner, and their circumstances which brought them to NZ where he again became a miner at Denniston and other mines on the West Coast Their later life was spent in Canterbury
