This is a superb short history of sails and sailing ships, from the earliest Roman merchantmen and Viking ships to the Baltimore clipper and other turn-of-the-century American sailing vessels.
There are 20 colour plate illustrations of sailing ships from 200AD to the 19th century.
Sails Through the Centuries by Sam Svensson with drawings by Gordon Macfie is a 1965 edition published by Macmillan Company, New York.
It is a larger-format 115-page 19x19.5cm hard cover with dust jacket (a minor tear to the bottom of the front cover) in otherwise excellent condition.
The artwork is superb.
