Hardcover first edition (1985) of a renowned "rare collection of photographs taken in Peking between 1933 and 1946", which "provides a fascinating insight into life in Peking in the years preceding the Communist revolution of 1949".

Author: Hedda Morrison

A "sympathetic approach to her subjects can be seen in the large number of photographs showing Chinese from all walks of life, at work and enjoying their leisure".

Stunning photographs accompanied by informative text (refer to photos for details).

Condition: Excellent. Dust jacket: Intact, and in great condition. Miniscule wear in some places at the edge, and a 1cm tear near spine on front cover. Inside: No handwritten annotations. All pages in place; none torn or dog-eared.
