Montague Harry Holcroft is the longest-serving editor of the New Zealand Listener, and he helped found the New Zealand branch of UNESCO. In 1970 he was made Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
From the dust jacket: 'Mr. Holcroft is already well known as the author of three thought-provoking books about New Zealand and its people. In this new book, he presents his own autobiography, covering that period of his young manhood when he was undergoing experiences that had an important effect on his later thinking about New Zealand.'
Condition Dust jacket: G The dust jacket is intact, and in good repair. However the spine has faded somewhat, and there is a minuscule tear in it. Moderate discolouration on rear of jacket. Minimal foxing (spots) elsewhere though. Hardcover: G The hardcover is in sound condition. However, the spine shows some fading; and there are some brown spots along the top edges and at bottom of spine. Front-/ Endpapers: Ex/ Ex- The endpapers show a couple of yellow spots only. Pages: Ex- In good repair and very clean, except the first unnumbered page which has a name written in an adult hand in blue ink. (The wet ink has left a slight impression at the top of the dust jacket flap facing.) A number of small dark spots can be seen along the page edges top.
