The New Zealand Pony Club has grown in leaps and bounds since the day in 1945 when the Heretaunga Pony Club was formed. From this small beginning a sprightly tree grew rapidly and in these pages Ann Newman a member from the start, traces the history of the Pony Club in New Zealand, its trials, ups and downs and its successes.

The first half of the book tells the overall history of the club, and included in this section are several delightful stories about members and clubs that have probably been forgotten by many and will cause much amusement when recalled.

The second part of the book is devoted to histories of the clubs of the New Zealand Pony Club Association.
