This is an Original Print made directly from the original wood / steel engraving for the Picturesque Atlas of Australasia 1606 - 1888. It is of suburb fine engraved black ink engraving detail on paper with natural age browning protected behind clear glass with a gold enamel on oval card over matt. It measures 255mm x 205mm over the gold enamel on vintage metal frame and has a well aged period wooden backing with wire rod fixing. The print itself is still clear and legible, engraved signature bottom right Frank P Mahony, the paper backing although naturally aged is still sound as they used the best finest available paper at the time for this production. The glass is clean and sound, both over matt and frame looks to have been repainted at a later date as I can see specks and under tarnish in places. The backing is dusty with general surface aging, has a pen marking central, frame has Trade ARCO mark on it to the side.
