This first edition by the artist Peter Beadle was published in 1973 by A.H. & A.W. Reed Ltd, Wellington, NZ. It is 32 pgs long and contains both text and stunning artworks of the region. It contains maps in the front and back inside covers as well as many paintings and pencil/charcoal sketches by Peter. See photos for more details and a sample of what the book contains. The dust cover has a plastic covering and has been altered (inside flap of dust jacket at front has been cut off and is now just plastic but back one still intact under plastic outer covering). Inside there are some ex-library stamps, yellow cellotape marks (inside cover), pen writing and a pocket for library card. Apart from some minor external wear and dirt marks here and there it is in tidy condition for age and former use.

A stunning read on one of the world's greatest natural wonders as seen through the eyes of a talented NZ artist. Great addition to any NZ book collection.
