Description
Large paperback in very tidy condition.
In Paris a novelist is living in an arts commune, mourning the death of the love of his life, Yukiko, and trying to write her story. One day he is harassed by a beggar called Jackson 'Sonny' Lee, who claims to have known many of the great writers of twentieth-century literature. As Sonny penetrates his life, the novelist is taken on a strange journey into a shadow world he could never have dreamed existed. Son he encounters Zoya, a mute Russian girl who introduces him to the mysteries of Les Belles Endormies - a place where, after drinking a potent green tea, clients fall into a sleep that allows them to revisit pivotal episodes in their past. He also befriends Emilie, a sensual young French girl who is full of the joy of living. Slowly, second chances and love begin to seem possible again - but for the eternal presence of the past.
