Description: Brief description: The central heart of the book is an extended mediation on the loss of Anne's husband - poems both deeply personal and universal. They are held by two other sections which explore her relationship with and place within the natural world, particularly drawing on the theme of regeneration after disaster. About the Author Anne M Carson is a Melbourne writer and visual artist. Her poetry has been published both in the USA and widely in Australia including The Best Australian Poems (2005). She is the winner of 2011 Martha Richardson Poetry Prize and equal first-place winner in the 2011 Stones Winery Poetry Prize. She was Commended in the 2013 Max Harris Poetry Competition. She has curated two programmes for Radio National's PoeticA and hosted a series of poetry and music soirees, most recently the River Soiree on Herring Island which raised funds for the Melbourne River Keepers. She teaches poetry to adults, is a trained Social Worker, and also works as a Creative Writing Therapist. Her visual art is based on photography and botanical specimens. Her photographs and art panels have been exhibited in galleries and florist shops and used as greeting cards, a literary journal cover and book-mark.
