4U X10847BE1C-E5 features internal support for up to 36 pluggable LFF (3½”) hard drives and/or SSDs via dual SAS expander backplanes, and external JBOB cascade support for a further 204 devices. Typical configuration for SDS-only use is minimal CPU and memory, however, X10857BE1C-E5 does support up to two E5-2600 v4 processors and 2TB of RAM where mixed-task deployment, eg. presenting storage and hosting virtual machines, is desired. OS/boot may be from any of dual rear SFF (2½”) SSD, Disk-on-Module (DoM) or internal USB.
