One of the first addition that one should make after buying a nice and expensive camera or lens is one of these UV filters.

UV filters serve two purposes for the lens, firstly as the name sates; "UV" filters blocks out the the striking UV lights from the sun when shooting outside which can otherwise ruin your perfect shot. This makes them appear cleared and sharper with a more focused picture.

Secondly due to its cheap price, it is recommended that you always have it attached to the end of your lens. This offers it dust protection along with preventing it from getting scratched. Lets face it, a cheap filter is much easier to replace than a new lens!

The filter attaches to the front of your camera lens via the thread which you may see there and are quick to attach and remove when needed. Your lens cap along with lens hood and any other filters which you may use can still be attached without any issues.
