Description
Rare, early, single-use flash bulb for long-exposure, slow-speed photography, producing 180,000 lumen seconds.
In the mid 1920s Johannes Ostermeier at Lampenfabrik Hauser in Augsburg invented the "VACUBLITZ" : a flash using thin aluminium foil instead of magnesium powder. The flash bulb was attached to an electric torch,. The flash used the battery-power of the torch when the torch was switched on.
This bulb was made by General Electric, England in 1930s
"Not to be used from electric light mains"- as the Instruction leaflet ( supplied as photocopy) warns
Never fired
12 cm high, 7 cm diameter
Bayonet fitting ( slightly oxydized with time) is marked : "A.M 5C/542"
Comes in original cardboard packet in vibrant art-deco orange . MINT condition!
