This disk in combination with a CD/DVD player will replace a very expensive precision audio signal generator.

This Disk contains minimum necessary signals to test and adjust the Recording portion of any tape recorder to “flat” Frequency Response balance within wide 40 Hz – 15 kHz frequency range

Here is the procedure

Connect your CD player output to the input of the tape recorder under test Select the particular brand and type of tape you plan to use Using a blank reel (cassette) of this tape, perform the following series of adjustments in the following sequence: First, adjust the recording head azimuth alignment using 15kHz tone monitoring recorded signal Next, adjust the bias control for optimum bias using 400Hz tone monitoring recorded signal Then adjust the noise balance control for minimum noise (no signal) Next, adjust "0" level using 400Hz/0dB tone monitoring recorded signal Then, using 400Hz, 15kHz and 40Hz -20dB tones recorded on the CD adjust the recording equalizer of the tape recorder for most uniform 40Hz-15kHz frequency response monitoring recorded signal Finally, adjust "0" level using 400Hz/0dB tone monitoring recorded signal

The Master Disk is recorded with 0.002% Total Harmonic Distortion measured @ 400Hz using industrial recording equipment

Each master track is recorded individually
