GLA has anti-inflammatory properties, while also promoting cell membrane stabilizer activity in the body. This makes evening primrose oil particularly good for aging, irritated, and damaged skin, as well as calming acne flair ups.

Use as moisturizer to keep dry areas hydrated. It boosts blood circulation and helphelps skin to look more youthful. It can be used to help alleviate itchiness caused by dermatitis and eczema - the strongest evidence is for treatment of eczema. By working to dilute sebum, a thick oily substance that is over-secreted in some people with acne, the essential fatty acids in EPO may reduce the risk of pores becoming clogged and lesions developing. It helps treat rosacea by reducing inflammation, controlling cells' use of nutrients and by producing prostaglandins, which stimulate the contraction of blood vessels.
