I bought this bed with the intention of reupholstering but have never gotten around to it. Not sure of the wood i think the guy at the 2nd hand place said oak but i'm not 100% sure on that but it is beautifully grained, good quality, solid wood not just pine etc. He said it belonged to an old lady who had it in her spare room. It's in excellent condition even the upholstery fabric looks like almost new so it has obviously been well cared for. It really is a beautiful and beautifully made bed and will be a unique addition to someone's home. I have tried to show a picture of the actual bed but was difficult as i couldn't move it by myself from where it is stored so hopefully you can get an idea. Bed is in Hokitika but can deliver to Nelson on Anzac weekend for a fee or Christchurch at the start of May.
