Black-Eyed Susan -Rambling Climber-Stunning Blooms
START EARLY FOR A STUNNING SUMMER BLOOM!
This auction is for one packet of Black Eyed Susan (Thunbergia alata) seeds. The packet contains 15 seeds.
For a splash of glorious yellow outdoor, the Black Eyed Susan is an stunning climber. This is a quick-growing flowering climber that winds around almost anything that gets in its way.
Hails originally from Africa, the Black-eyed Susan, is a fast growing vine with attractive flowers. I used to grow them afresh each year as it would die down from heavy frost here in Palmy. But since I grew them under the eaves and it survived the winter.
It is sometimes treated as a temporary houseplant mainly because of the sheer visual delight it gives when it is in full bloom. The five-lobed flowers are deep orange yellow with deep chocolate brown centres, on dark purple tubes. The plant bears triangular, tooth edged, three-inch long leaves on winged petioles. The leaves are arranged in an opposite pattern on a slender twining stem.
Just before you soak the seeds in water, it might pay to lightly go over their edges with a fine sand-paper. This removes part of the hard outer coating and hastens germination. You need only to just soak them overnight that's all. And they are ready to go! Plant seeds in seed-raising mix and when they are sufficiently stout, replant them in the spot you desire.
Black Eyed Susan can be used to cover railings and rustic fences. I've never had to water them all through summer.
Plant in partial shade to full sun in fertile soil. This one certainly does not like excessive heat.
These seeds are straight from my plants. So they are far far more superior than commercial packet ones. Preserve these seeds well and they will have a long viability.
The seeds are hard to come by and terribly expensive if you can find them.
PUNNET OF GERMINATING SEEDS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE. DEMO ONLY.
