Leaves on this flax is bronze, but the seed will produce a mixture of bronze and green seedlings.

It is an upright, firm stemmed flax with a strong mid rib. Leaves can grow up to 1.8 m tall. Flower heads, which attract tui feeding on nectar, are erect above the leaves. Flowers are in red tones with yellow stamens. Seed heads are black. Easy to grow and tolerate a wide variety of soil conditions including summer drought once established and windy conditions.

Flaxes do well in open, dry to average sites and also do well in damper sites. They can be grown in full sun to part sun. They are excellent landscape and accent plants. They are frost and drought tolerant.

If you purchase items one at a time, shipping is payable on each purchase. To place a large order, pay shipping for each group of 15 plants. You can add seeds, dry bulbs and tubers to potted plants at no extra shipping cost. There is no limit on the number of seeds that can be sent for one shipping cost.

We ship Mondays and Tuesdays each week to ensure they are delivered during the working week. Plants purchased before noon Saturday will be shipped the following Monday or Tuesday. Plants purchased later than noon Saturday will be sent a week later. At the time of dispatch you will be sent an email with tracking information.

We do not ship to Great Barrier, Waiheke, Stewart, Chatham and other offshore islands.
