Foeniculum vulgare This fennel, has stunningly beautiful, purple feathery plumes that provide a lacy contrast in the vegetable or flower garden.

Bronze fennel has anise flavored seeds, and the young leaves are similar to dill. They are aromatic and finely divided. Fresh leaves can be sprinkled on salads or used in salad dressings. Herbal vinegars made with bronze fennel turn ruby red.

Fennel does best in well drained, sandy soils with lots of organic matter. The root is perennial, and the plant dries up after blooming at the end of spring. It will grow back the following spring. Full sun. Height 30 - 60 cm
