A foodplant for the Red & Yellow Admiral Butterflies.

Auction for quarter teaspoon of Nettle Tree seed (Urtica ferox). Onga Onga is the Maori name. This is a few dozen seed.

Help the Red & Yellow Admiral butterflies plus a couple of moths as their caterpillars feed on Nettles. If you have grown Swan Plant for Monarch's, then Nettles provide a good second step in helping Endemic Butterflies & Moths like the Red & Yellow Admiral grow in population.

Nettle Tree grows to about 2 metre in height & upto 2metres wide. Its large size provides a good amount of foliage to feed caterpillars on. Trim the stems back to encourage new growth. The plant is frost hardy (emdemic to NZ) & will grow throughout winter in most of the country.

BEWARE #The sting on this plant is the worst of all Nettles & you may feel it for upto 7 days! Handle with great care & protective clothing.# #Best to grow it in a fenced or hard to access area.#
