Elderberry tree (Sambucus Nigra) - fruit tree renown for its fabulous berries. Will grow 2 metres plus tall but can be kept trimmed to any size

Has lovely leaves during summer, deciduous during winter. Masses of white flowers are followed by the red/black berries.

The berries can be used to make Elderberry wine, cordial, jellies & pies. The flowers can be used to make Elderberry drinks & "champagne".

Elderberries are said to have medicinal qualities as well as tasting good!

Trees are fast growing and grow in almost any condition. I trim mine otherwise they grow too tall to pick the fruit and birds get them all!

There are many fabulous recipes for the berries and flowers - here is one of my favourites: Sparkling Elderberry Drink 10 bunches elderberry flowers 1 lemon 350 ml water 8 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 4 tablespoons honey 1 lemon, juice of

Rinse the elderberry flowers- must be just in bloom. Cut the lemon into thin slices & mix with the flowers and remaining ingredients in a large container. Stir. Cover container and leave in warm place. The juice can be drunk after 24 hours. If necessary add lemon & honey to taste. After 2-3 days the drink will begin to effervesce. Sieve, put into screw top bottles, store in a dark room. The juice will turn into sparkling wine in about 4 weeks.

You are bidding on 1 plant (photo is of a smaller plant than you are bidding on - easier to photograph!) - would expect to fruit in approx 1 year. These are last years seedlings in PB 6 bags or this seasons cuttings. The plants are at least 30cm tall - from top of pot to top of plant - that's all the green plant/leaf height only - not including the bag. These are well established plants with good strong roots

Plants will be sent removed from bag, excess soil removed, roots wrapped in damp moss & newspaper, then shipped in a carton. They travel best this way
