This beautiful pendant is handcrafted by the seller, Murray Anderson, from AUTHENTICATED NGAI TAHU kawakawa pounamu.

In 1997 the New Zealand government returned to the Ngai Tahu elected tribal council ownership of all naturally occurring pounamu within their tribal area.

Kawakawa is a strong dark to rich green with varying intermediate shades. The name was derived from the colour of kawakawa leaves.

This stunning piece is 58mm long and 20mm wide and hangs by a black coloured waxed adjustable cord.

I have carved a lovely koru design into this piece and hand Polished and lightly oiled it with manuka oil.

Most of the jade and greenstone products manufactured in New Zealand are made from raw stone that is imported from overseas – many carved jade pieces sold in New Zealand are manufactured in China.
