Remember the Toyota Hilux TV Ad from 1999? Here at Personalised Plates Ltd. (PPL) we received so many calls from people wanting to buy BUGGER on a number plate, that our phones were running hot. At the time, the Transport Agency decided it was not appropriate to release it for sale.
Fast-forward 16 years and thanks to the NZ Transport Agency and Trade Me, Personalised Plates Ltd. is now auctioning the Rights To Receive this plate to the NZ public.
PPL will donate the sale price achieved to the good buggers at Surf Life Saving New Zealand.

Important Notes & Terms:
- This auction is for the Rights To Receive the plate combination BUGGER in NZ
- The highest bidder when the auction closes shall be the purchaser.
- Upon receipt of full payment and confirmation of contact details, these plates will be placed under the name/details of the highest bidder.
- As with all personalised plates in NZ, these plates cannot be manufactured until they are going to be placed on a NZ licensed and registered vehicle under the same name.
- You may still purchase the Rights To Receive and not have the plates manufactured immediately. However, this should be done within 90 days of purchase.
- Full payment is to be made by the highest bidder by way of direct credit into the Personalised Plates Ltd. bank account within 5 working days from the end of the auction. If payment is not received by this time, Personalised Plates reserves the right to cancel the sale. In this case, the Rights To Receive BUGGER will remain available to sell to another party at our discretion.
- The final sale price (once received) will be donated to Surf Life Saving New Zealand by Personalised Plates Ltd. The purchaser is not making the charitable donation.
