Suzuki TS 400 B 1977

1977 Suzuki TS 400 B Last of the big bore Suzuki TS 2-stroke trail bikes. 3476 miles (5596km) A restored ‘barn find’ which I purchased September last year from the restorer with 3048 miles on the clock. This bike had been completely stripped and rebuilt including engine/gearbox with Nikasil coated bore and NOS standard piston. Powder coated frame and new paint. Original rear shocks rebuilt. IRC universal Trials tyres fitted new when I bought it. New fork seals.

I have covered 428 miles on this bike and have fitted NOS (ex japan) ignition and pulser coils to sort intermittent electrical problem. Have NOS 16 tooth front sprocket for better road gearing (not fitted). I purchased this bike hoping it would be the similar to the TS250 I owned and enjoyed some years back, except with more power. But it’s a very different beast. Rough around town and only really smooths out under ¾ to full throttle. Much the same on the open road. Add in a healthy thirst and a small tank and this bike just isn’t getting used. I have spent a lot of time trying to get it running smoothly across the whole throttle range, but it’s technically beyond my capabilities. Someone who really understands the intricacies of 2-stroke tuning may be able to set it up better.

Definitely rare these days, I’m sure someone will want to add it to their collection.
