Description
RED 1990 Mazda GTX BG8RF BPT 4x4 1840cc Turbo 1NZ owner since 1993 Albins dogbox
Recent tune: 290wkW (est.520Bhp @engine)
Plenty of in-car videos on youtube examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmmWn_5N_00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHfYW-iAqIA../watch?v=gFcxiuCODKY
SEE MY CLASSIFIED AD FOR DETAIL Note the Mazda GTR pistons are "hi-cast" (made by a squeeze-casting process), and have oil cooling holes/channels under the crown, and a special porous region above the top ring to aid lubrication and significantly reduce piston wear (i.e. increase piston longevity). You can see these features in the photos. I bought the GTR pistons &Rods New from from Mazda NZ (cost about $2k).
GRP bonnet fitted. Original steel bonnet available.
The car is well balanced and easy to drive, and is always fast and competitive. It is seldom beaten, even by Evo's! However it did struggle on one tight and bumpy hillclimb with the heavy spring rates fitted: F 650lb/in and R 500lb/in
Many FTOD's at hillclimb & street events & a couple of recent course records.... and all that whilst staying on the tarmac. Times could be quicker for those of you who typically like to cut corners & drive 3 foot off the tarmac.
4 sec 0-100kph <12sec 1/4mile
Selling "as-is where-is". Please inspect car condition for yourself. I offer no warranty or opinion of future performance or reliability.
LVV Certified
Naturally good handling: with minor mods, OEM gearbox, suspension & brakes, & 177wkW the car finished 12th overall out of 200 competitors in Targa NZ 2004. Did not miss a stage.
Since 2005 Typically ran 3rd overall pace in Taranaki Tarmac Rallies with restricted 210wkW, again without upgraded brakes and suspension.
Have restrictor and Terratrip if needed,
Will consider selling 2 gearboxes $10k each. (Albins dogset, custom diff carrier shaft, etc)
Weakest gearbox link is still the Mazda 5" rear transfer head - suffers under 1st gear loads.
Did test to 388wkW (520whp/700Bhp) in 4th gear.
