Land Rover Defender 110 1987
$10,951
Description
I bought this vehicle off the Red Cross in 2008 with just over 70000 km on the clock. It was the Nelson/Marlborough emergency relief vehicle. Obviously there weren't many emergencies which kept the km's very low.
Our family has had great fun with this Landy over the last 6 years. Tramping and mountain biking in the hills, kayaking in the Sounds and camping in Northland. It has never let us down.
It is with sadness that I must say goodbye to it now as the kids have left home and I can no longer justify the cost to run it.
Overall I would say it is in sound condition with a classic 1980's BMC paint job. The paint has peeled off around the front vents leaving black primer and has crazed on the front passenger door where it occasionally flakes off exposing white primer underneath. I had an argument with a fence gudgeon a couple of years ago that left a racing stripe on the rear drivers side door. It doesn't appear to let water in. There are a few wobbles on the bonnet where red cross volunteers walked on the bonnet to access the large roof rack.
As it was left standing for a while before I bought it I had to replace the clutch slave cylinder, and the rear brake cylinders. The brake master cylinder has been professionally reconditioned. Other than that I have put new tyres on it, the rear two are as new the front two are half worn, (the spare is a spare), and changed the oil, plugs and water. There is a small amount of "slap" somewhere in the drive train that I don't notice anymore.
There is an inverter thingy in the engine bay that has never worked.Don't know what is wrong with it. The rear door only locks from the inside or with a screw driver from the outside.
The WOF and reg have just expired but there will be 6 months of each for the new owner.
