Description
This is an auction for a box of guitar pieces that when assembled make a 1950s Arnold Hoyer “Esquire 19” archtop guitar. If you have ever thought that restoring an archtop guitar might make an interesting winter project this is the item for you. This is a quote from an archtop guitar website: “…Randy Bachman is a collector of Hoyer guitars. When it comes to guitars, Hoyer is one of Germany's best-kept secrets. The company started in 1874 and to this day is building excellent guitars. In my opinion, the guitars they produced in the 1950’s through the 1960’s are the best.” The “Esquire 19” measures 16 ½ inches across the lower bout putting it between a ES175 & L5 in size. The hand carved top is spruce and the back is plywood, the parts include: body and neck (with 50s ‘m-o-t’ headstock overlay) ; rosewood fingerboard; bridge, nut, correct tail-piece and tuners. Some of these parts you might want to modernise, especially the period floating pick-up. There is no pickguard but I can supply a template, they were often made of clear perspex and look very classy..
