I bought this bass at the end of high school when I was planning to become the next Jaco Pastorius and going down the jazz school route. Unfortunately it is now 8 years down the track, and while I've had I've only played it about 10 times with any real enthusiasm. I guess I'm always going to be a fretted bassist.

However, a bass this beautiful shouldn't just be ornamental. I have to let her go. She needs to be played, and I have only let her down in that department.

It's a 4 string converted fretless active/passive [used to have frets, but they were taken out and the gaps filled with resin, just like the master Pastorius himself - you can still see the fretlines so it helps with learning and playing when you start out.]

Currently has flatwound strings fresh on about 6 months ago - perfect for that "mwaaaah" sound you crave when playing a fretless, they still sound great.

The active/passive pickup split, plus all the pots/knobs/switches give you great control over your tone.

• 2 volume pots, one controlling each pickup.
• A switch to choose between only active pickup, only passive, or a blend between the two.
• 4 tone pots to control the highs/mids/lows. One of these has a hiss with it that has developed during my time owning the bass - I've been living in Rotorua, so I assume it is a slightly corroded pot from the air here. It's easy enough to fix, or you can just turn it down no problems.
• A solo switch - boosts the treble frequencies to help you cut through the mix when the big solo is coming up.

Brand is 'Musician' from Ibanez, and it's a beautiful looking, well crafted, sturdy bass guitar. I'd say the perfect starting axe for someone hoping to learn the art of electric fretless bass.

I've had some doodles put on the front strut just for the cool look. Hope you like 'em.

Comes with an authentic, beat up, been-around-the-block hardcase that you probably won't want seen in public, but will keep the bass in good shape when in storage.
