Up for auction is a rare high end Asturias AST-30 classical guitar in absolutely beautiful condition. The Asturias Company produces a small amount of hand made guitars each year that are considered to be one of the finest quality instruments in the world. Played by international classical star John Williams the Asturias is also played by a host of other world famous classical musicians such as Andres Segovia and Ana Vidovic

ASTURIAS GUITAR MANUFACTURING LTD. is a small Japanese workshop specialising in top quality handcrafted stringed instruments, they have an international reputation for excellence.

The Asturias guitar production quantity has been limited to small numbers of instruments since the company’s humble beginnings in 1962. Most of the instruments are sold through speciality stores with professional knowledge of string instruments.

At any given time Asturias employs no more than 15 highly skilled luthier craftsman from all over Japan who are dedicated to building top quality handcrafted instruments to the highest standards such as classical guitars, acoustic guitars, classical mandolins, and ukuleles.

Years of natural drying and seasoning of tonewood is the most important factor of their guitar making. All woods are cured and settled for at least 3 years especially the soundboards, fingerboards and neck. Many factors are taken into consideration concerning seasoning of timbers in order to avoid problems of change of climate in different countries.

Following long seasoning years all materials are cut and kept in the humidity controlled room for 6 months before going into the construction stage.
