Edmund James Arthur Hockridge (1919-2009) was a Canadian baritone and actor who had a successful career in musicals, operas, concerts, plays and on radio after moving to the UK

Edmund grew up in Vancouver, served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in WW2 and worked with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Canadian Band of the Allied Expeditionary Force, before joining BBC radio where he starred in more than 400 shows.

After the war, he had his radio show, starred in opera and then, in 1950, he starred in 'Carousel' in London's West End and his marked the beginning of 40 years in show-business in the UK.

Edmund was a regular on British stage, radio and TV including several appearances at The Royal Variety performance. Edmund also recorded recorded singles, EPs and 11albums.

In 1986, aged 67, he partnered the rock singer Suzi Quatro in a London production of Annie Get Your Gun (his seventh musical) and also appeared with Isla St Clair in a provincial production of The Sound of Music (1984).

He continued to perform on stage regularly, latterly with his family, until his retirement in 1996.
