Description
Rare antique Georgian Period Porcelain Rococo Cornicupia Vase, C 1830. Most probably made by the Ridgway Factory but in French taste. Decorative & Imposing. The trumpet, supported on a shell & scroll plinth, painted with landscape & floral panels within gilt scrolls & tendrils on a cobalt blue ground, blush gilded eagle head terminal. Gilding loss to the plinth & to edge of the wavy rim. At some time the trumpet has come away from the base. The front scroll support has broken off & been re-stuck & the scroll supports of the eagle have been re-attached to the plinth. There is a very fine hairline crack that traverses the neck of the eagle invisible except on the blush ground. The cracks on the inside of the base may have developed during firing. All sounds worst that it is. The damage, being mostly concealed, does not effect display or the structure with cracks stable. See all images to clarify. Dimensions: Height 18 cm, Width 19 cm, Depth 11.5 cm
