Description
Back action hammer gun, built by "hughes" who from what I can find built guns for the trade.
Steel, not Damascus barrels, nitro proofed, chambered for 2 1/2 inch shells, choked skeet and 3/4. Small amount of pitting near the muzzle in the skeet bore, otherwise very good bores for vintage. I have been shooting this (yes it is certainly a shooter) with game bore 2 1/2 inch shells, the remainder of a box is available to the buyer if they pick up.
Stock has an old repair to the wrist, see photos, and a chip out of the lower corner by the butt plate. Right hand hammer is a little loose and could do with a tighten up. Otherwise in pretty tidy condition for a gun of this age (suspect around 1880?) I have put maybe 30 rounds through it this year, great fun shooting these old girls.
