Front of House / Duty Manager
Annabelle's Restaurant – St Heliers, Auckland
We are a well-established, award-winning restaurant located at 409-411 Tamaki Drive in beautiful St Heliers, with stunning views over the bay and Rangitoto Island. Known for our European-style cuisine, fresh seafood, warm hospitality and memorable dining experience, we are looking for an experienced and reliable Front of House / Duty Manager to join our close-knit team.
About the role
This is a hands-on leadership position in a busy, high-quality restaurant environment. You will lead the front of house team, deliver excellent customer service, manage shifts, handle reservations, ensure smooth service, and step in as Duty Manager when required (including when alcohol is served).
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and motivating the front of house team
Delivering outstanding customer service and creating memorable guest experiences
Managing daily operations including service flow, reservations and floor management
Handling cash, EFTPOS and end-of-day procedures
Maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanliness
Ensuring compliance with food safety, health & safety and liquor licensing requirements
Opening/closing the restaurant as rostered
What we offer:
Competitive hourly rate $26 – $30 per hour (depending on experience) + penalty rates and weekend loadings where applicable
Guaranteed minimum 30–40 hours per week (full-time preferred)
Rostered shifts including weekends and some evenings
Staff meals and a great team environment
Opportunity to work in a scenic, award-winning venue with regular customers
We are an Accredited Employer and can support AEWV Job Change applications where appropriate for the right candidate
What we are looking for:
Minimum 2 years hospitality experience in a European restaurant (restaurant experience highly regarded)
Previous experience in front-of-house or supervisory roles
Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Reliable, punctual and team-oriented with a positive attitude
Liquor Licence (Manager's Certificate) is a plus – highly advantageous for the Duty Manager responsibilities
Food & Beverage Service or Duty Manager experience is advantageous
Must be eligible to work in New Zealand (NZ residents, citizens and migrants with valid work rights are all welcome to apply)
