**Are you looking to make a real difference in your community?**


We are currently seeking empathetic and passionate Support Workers based in the Horowhenua region to join our community-based services – RIDSAS. This is a full-time role where you will provide dedicated care and support to individuals with disabilities who are involved in the criminal justice system.


In this role, you will also support rangatahi and tamariki to live as independently as possible within their communities. As part of a team, you will work rostered shifts providing 24/7 support, including personal care, community outings, social integration, and daily living support—helping people to live as independently as possible.


NZCL provides intensive rehabilitative support, helping people develop the skills they need to reach their full potential and actively participate in their communities.


**What does a Community Support Worker do?**


As a Support Worker, you will support people with complex needs and behaviours in a respectful, proactive, and person-centred way. You will focus on strengths, choice, and wellbeing, helping people feel safe, valued, and empowered in their daily lives.


You will:


- Provide consistent, compassionate support to people with diverse and complex needs
- Use Positive Behaviour Support approaches in your practice
- Take a proactive approach to reducing distress and improving quality of life
- Encourage independence, confidence, and personal growth
- Build strong, trusting relationships with the people you support
- Work closely with whanau, professionals, and your wider team
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment


This is a highly rewarding role that involves building positive relationships with people and their whanau, while working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to support individuals in achieving rehabilitative goals and fostering independence in a safe environment.


**What are we looking for?**


- Experience working in a challenging, fast-paced environment and the ability to work well within a team
- A genuine desire to support rangatahi and tamariki to learn new skills and achieve positive outcomes
- Previous experience supporting people with daily living, ideally those with intellectual or physical disabilities
- Experience working with children or youth (preferred)
- A high level of resilience and adaptability
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to connect well with others
- Energetic, passionate, and motivated to support people to achieve their goals and aspirations
- The ability to look beyond presenting barriers and create opportunities that support independence and wellbeing
- Full driver’s licence (essential)
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including overnight shifts and weekends
