Join Us in Making Every Moment Matter
Millvale House Miramar is on the lookout for a qualified Diversional Therapist – with at least one year’s experience, to join our passionate, purpose-driven team. This is a full-time role, including one weekend day, where your creativity, empathy, and energy will genuinely change lives.

If you have experience with dementia, or even a strong understanding of it, that’s a wonderful advantage. What matters most is your heart for people and your desire to bring joy, connection, and meaning into each day.

This is your opportunity to design and deliver an activities programme that truly honours the unique needs of people living with dementia. You’ll help create moments of joy, comfort, and purpose - moments that become the highlight of someone’s day. You’ll be part of a close-knit, supportive team that celebrates innovation and cares deeply for both residents and staff.

Millvale House is proud to be an innovative, forward-thinking aged care provider, known for pioneering the Best Friends approach and the Small Homes philosophy—two models that place love, dignity, and genuine connection at the centre of care.

Our vision is simple but powerful:

To accept all people with kindness and love. To provide peace, comfort and joy. To be proactive, innovative and courageous. To enrich each person, the community and the world.

Kia tomo mai nga tangata katoa i runga i te atawhai me te aroha. Kia whakaratongia te maungarongo, te ahurutanga me te koa. Kia taunakitia te auahatanga me te kaha. Hei whakangakohia te tangata, te hapori me te ao hoki.

What you will be doing
• Creating and delivering an engaging activities programme that reflects each resident’s life story, interests, and abilities
• Contributing to care plans, Diversional Therapy plans, resident profiles and progress notes
• Facilitate involvement in community activities
• Designing monthly activity calendars tailored to individual needs
• Supporting residents with challenging behaviours in a compassionate, person-centred way
• Encouraging participation, fun, and meaningful engagement
• Adapting programmes creatively to suit a wide range of abilities and personalities

What you bring
• A qualification in Diversional & Recreational Therapy (Level 4)
• A genuine appreciation for the power of meaningful activity, connection and fun
• Warm, confident communication skills
• Strong documentation and writing ability
• Experience with care planning (or a willingness to learn)
• Creativity, curiosity, and a love of thinking outside the box
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
• A heartfelt commitment to enriching the lives of older people with empathy and love

This is a deeply rewarding role where you’ll make a real difference every single day. You’ll be supported by a team that values you, mentors you, and celebrates your ideas. You’ll be part of a workplace that feels like family.

We are also an Immigration New Zealand Accredited Employer for applicants with relevant qualifications.

If you’re ready to bring joy, purpose, and connection into the lives of others, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and help us make every moment count.

Please note: Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
