Job Title: Painter
Location: Christchurch, New Zealand
Rate: $30-$35 per hour
Hours: Minimum of 30 hours per week to maximum of 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare surfaces by removing old paint/wallpaper, repairing woodwork, filling cracks and holes, and sealing surfaces
• Mix and match paint to the required specifications, including pigment, oil, thinners, and drying agents
• Apply finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
• Hang wallpaper, align patterns, and trim edges accurately
• Set up ladders, trestles, and scaffolding where needed
• Maintain tools and ensure a clean, tidy worksite
• Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, and other trades
• Interpret plans and specifications to meet project requirements
• Work safely and maintain a clean job site
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet deadlines.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail
• Follow safety procedures and comply with industry standards
• May assist in minor glazing or gib repairs if required
What we're looking for:
At least 3 years' experience as a painter
Ability to work independently or in a team
Plasterer and spray painter experience is an advantage
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Good communication and time management skills
Understanding of health and safety practices.
