We are seeking an experienced and passionate clinician with strong mental health addictions practice to join our Child Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within the Mental Health Addiction Services.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Child Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team is currently looking for a skilled and passionate mental health professional. The role is vital to the mental health of our children and young people across Taranaki as you will be supporting them through their journey along with their whanau.

You will manage and provide appropriate acute needs assessment/brief intervention of children, youth and their families referred to CAMHS. This position will sit within and be very much a part of the CAMHS team which is aiming to be a centre of excellence within the Specialty CAMHS field. It is expected that the MH Acute Needs Clinician will have developed areas of recognized expertise and be able to offer input to the team in these areas. The clinician will demonstrate sound knowledge and experience of offering a wide range of therapeutic assessment/brief intervention of infants, children, youth and their families seeking support from our service.

We are looking for:

Registered Health Professional with Current Practicing Certificate (allied and nursing)

Passion for Mental Health Addictions, exceptional interpersonal communication skills.

2 years experience within specialist Child Adolescent Mental Health required

What youll do with your time

Undertake all components of key working, including comprehensive assessment, risk assessment and management, wellness and treatment planning

Provides client-centred care, utilising evidence-based treatment strategies including, where appropriate, talking therapies

Coordinate care at the right time with input from external providers

Assisting across the wider team where needed.

We are looking for individuals with the following traits

Excellent assessment, communication relationship building skills

Flexibility to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Understanding and application of the principles of the treaty of Waitangi, with a culturally safe and appropriate approach to practice

Ability to work under pressure, be a good team player, and positively contribute to service delivery;

Adept at developing strong working relationships both within specialist Mental Health Addiction Services as well as Iwi, NGO and primary stakeholders

Excellent interpersonal skills is a must as well as a commitment to continuous learning, is innovative and whai ora/whanau focused.
